Madras Archdiocese, established in 1952 has a population of 12 million, out of which 420 thousands are Catholics (under 5%). 70 Diocesan Priests, over 90 religious Priests, nearly 576 Women religious and 124 lay Catechists are actively involved in evangelization through various Missionary works in this predominantly Hindu/Muslim dominated society.
Please be generous in your support of the second collection next weekend for the missionary efforts of the Archdiocese of Madras. If you give by check please made your check payable to Good Shepherd Catholic Community, and write visiting missionary in the memo line. There is no envelope in our envelope packets for Visiting Missionaries since we do not have enough time in advance to know and print envelopes with the date of the weekend they will be with us. So if you want to ensure that you contribution is recorded on the parish records correctly, please place your donation in an envelope and write on it Visiting Missionary, your name and envelope number and the amount of your donation. I thank you in advance for your generosity to this special collection. The way that our Masses are scheduled Father Arulmani Josephraj will not be able to speak at all four weekend Masses. Father Conboy will be celebrating the Mass in St. Patrick, Aurora. There will also be a second collection in Aurora for the Archdiocese of Madras missionary efforts.
I will be on vacation next weekend so please extent your hospitality to be Fr. Arulmani Josephraj as we welcome him to Good Shepherd Catholic Community.
Repair Work on OLOL Church Steeple and Bell Tower will begin this week. The cost of this project is $17,000. We have received some generous donations to our Memorial Fund to help support this project. We thank those who have contributed. It is our hope to be able to address some other capital improvement projects to accomplish needed repairs to our buildings. Your donations to the Memorial Fund can help us greatly in accomplishing the Steeple Project and other maintenance projects in our parish. Thank you for your generous support.
I will be on vacation until August 30, spending some time visiting family and friends. Next week I will spend some time on Conesus Lake with some of my priest classmates. It is a beautiful Lake but I must say it seems so small to me after living on Cayuga Lake these past five years! Enjoy these days of summer. God’s blessings and peace, Father Bill
