Notes from Father Bill:

On Pentecost weekend, we prayed over the names of parishioners who accepted nominations to serve as Pastoral Council members. After we prayed to the Holy Spirit the following names were selected: Joe DeCaro and Terry Palmer. Joe and Terry will serve three year terms on the Council. I thank all those who accepted nominations for their willingness to serve. I pray that the Holy Spirit will give the new members of the Council the wisdom and gifts they will need as they begin this new role of service.

June is a month of transition for our Pastoral Council. We will be holding a picnic meeting at the rectory in Aurora on June 19that 6:00 p.m. The new council members who are beginning their terms of service are asked to attend the June meeting. The current Council and the new members will share a picnic meal together before the business aspect of the meeting is conducted. I would like to thank all the members of the Council for their service to our parish. As we welcome new members I would like to thank the out-going members for their time of service Tim Quill, and Elisa VanAmburgh, who served as chairperson this year. I thank them for their willingness to serve as Pastoral Council members and pray that the Holy Spirit will give them direction as to how they can continue to serve God’s people in the future. Remember we are all called by God to serve in one way or the other throughout our lives!

Also appointed to next year’s Pastoral Council is Jack Fedrizzi as youth-rep. Jack, who served on the Council this year, has been re-appointed for a second one year term as youth-rep. Remaining on the Council from this year to next are, Shannon Williams, Michael Miller, Pat Berry and Alice Sheerer. Please keep the newly formed council in your prayers that God will always give them good counsel and help us as a parish to do God’s will.

Visiting Missionary Collection

Each year we hold a Visiting Missionary Appeal in all of the parishes of our diocese to support missionary efforts around the world. The office of The Society for the Propagation of the Faith coordinates this appeal. Next weekend, June 17/18, Father Gerald Amam, SSJ, will be with us to speak about the missionary efforts of the Society of Jesus. The Missionary collection is usually conducted in July or August but this year it is being held in June to accommodate Father Amam who is back in the United States for a brief visit. Please welcome him to our parish, and please be generous in your support of the second collection next weekend for the missionary efforts of the Society of Jesus.

This week I will be attending the Diocesan Priest retreat at Notre Dame Spiritual Center on Canandaigua Lake. Please keep me and all the priest who will be on retreat in your prayers, and know that you and your families will be in mine.                 God’s blessings and peace, Father Bill
