FISH BOWL SUNDAY

We are beginning a Fish Bowl Sunday in our parishes to help support the local food pantries that are serving the needs of people within our parish. We are starting Fish Bowl Sunday to keep our parishioners abreast on an ongoing basis of the needs of the four local food pantries and to provide a reminder to donate items to help meet those needs.

This is how Fish Bowl Sunday works:

  • Fish Bowl Sunday will be the First Sunday of each Month.
  • Prior to First Sunday of the month a volunteer will check with your local food pantry and ask for 8 to 12 food and/or non-food items most needed.
  • Those 8-12 items will be written on several slips of papers and put into a fish bowl.
  • The Fish Bowl filled with the slips of the items needed will be at the church entrance before and after Mass on the First Sunday of each Month.
  • At the end of mass we encourage you to reach into the bowl and choose a slip with items needed.
  • We ask that you purchase the item on the slip of paper and return it to church the next Sunday.
  • A place will be designated at each of our churches where the items will be collected.
  • Volunteers will then bring the items received to the food pantries.AC

Below is a list of the food pantries we will support with items received from Fish Bowl Sunday

Our first Fish Bowl Sunday will be the weekend of May 6th/7th.

Thank you for your support of this new program.  Our Pastoral Council received this suggestion from Tim Quill who had experienced Fish Bowl Sunday at a parish he visits in the summer months.  It was very successful there, may it be just as successful in our parish.

God’s blessings and peace, Father Bill
