case 'faith': "The transmission of the Christian faith consists primarily in proclaiming Jesus Christ in order to lead others to faith in him."
-Catechism of the Catholic Church

FAITH FORMATION

The Church, composed of Christ's followers, is called to pass on the faith from generation to generation. Jesus reveals the Father, the Church reveals Jesus. He is always the center, for it is only through Jesus that we know the Father. This is our aim, to offer opportunities through education in the doctrine of the Church, communal worship and service to come to a deeper understanding of Jesus. Through the grace of God this knowledge and understanding will spill over into the heart, filling us with his love and igniting our passion to live the Catholic faith in a visible and comprehensive way.

CHILDREN'S FAITH FORMATION

Community is an important part of the Church's life. With this in mind we offer faith formation for grades 1-6 in conjunction with the Sunday masses. Children gather after the 8:30 mass on Sunday morning in Moravia and before the 10:30 mass in King Ferry during the school year. If you are new to the parish or have a child entering first grade please call the Parish office for registration information.

SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION

We offer sacramental preparation programs for Baptism, Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation. Encountering Jesus and receiving the grace of God through the sacraments are milestones and moments of joy. We stress the importance of family as the primary educators of their children in the faith and this is most evident in the sacramental preparation process as parents walk alongside their child guiding them toward Jesus. It is a goal at Good Shepherd to empower parents and provide whatever tools necessary to partner with them in passing on the fullness of our rich Catholic faith. Contact the Parish office at any time with any questions or for assistance with this most important responsibility.

YOUTH GROUPS

Youth groups offer an opportunity for young adults to "own" their faith. It our hope that through the power of the Holy Spirit, we are able to help guide our young adults to a deeper faith through activities such as group sharing and activities, community service and ongoing education opportunities. There are youth groups in Moravia and King Ferry - all are welcome.

ADULT FAITH FORMATION

Faith formation is a lifelong process, an ongoing journey home. God inserted himself into history in the person of Jesus for love of us. He is truly present, calling our name and waiting for us to turn to Him. Ongoing education, prayer and reflection lead us ever closer to the peace that only comes in Christ. Good Shepherd Catholic community offers small Christian communities, Bible study groups, involvement in the many ecumenical programs of our area and adult education throughout the year at multiple sites.

RCIA

We are a small, clustered parish so we are able to offer individual RCIA processes for anyone interested in learning more about the Catholic faith. Easter is the usual time for catechumens/candidates to be received into the Church; however, the process can and should begin when one first feels that they are 'being called by name'.
